I am a qualified adult and child counsellor working in an integrative way which means that my approach is client-centred, attachment-based and interpretive
I offer one-to-one counselling to adults either face-to-face or online. Initial sessions offer a chance to be heard and to understand the process of talking therapy. Many people are coping with the effects of childhood trauma in their present lives which can impact their physical and emotional selves. Building trust in a consistent and confidential relationship can offer a safe space to work through early separations and losses, gain self-awareness and the confidence to become one’s genuine self.
I also work with children in child-led play therapy. Some children do not have the emotional vocabulary to name complicated internal feelings, particularly if they have experienced rejection, abuse, or neglect. Anxiety might mean a child struggles with attending school or focusing on work. Sadness might be experienced as becoming quiet or withdrawn. Low mood, fear, and confusion may be masked by anger and acting out behaviours. Internal conflicts can be explored using art and other creative materials, which provide the distance and safety to express difficult feelings in a safe and contained environment.
I also work with vulnerable children within schools and bereaved children at Grief Encounter. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and adhere to their framework for safe and ethical practice. I am a member of the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) and am registered with the enhanced DBS checking service.
