I offer safe, confidential and non-judgemental counselling and psychotherapy sessions for individuals, adults and children often using art materials.
I provide support for bereavement, loss of identity, chronic depression, social anxieties and withdrawal, traumatic stress symptoms such as PTSD, attachment and relationship issues, personality disorders and psychosis. Creative expression in therapy is used to provide a safe space for exploring and coming to terms with painful issues. It can help working out areas of mental conflict or confusion at a deep unconscious level.
I trained at the Institute for Arts and Therapy in Education (IATE) completing an Advanced Diploma and a Masters in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy. I am a registered member of the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT). My therapeutic approach draws upon Integrative models such as Gestalt, Attachment Based Therapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy combined with creative expression through painting, clay modelling, sand play, body movement and sound.
I am experienced working with young adults with severe mental health issues, parents suffering from childhood trauma and domestic violence. I have worked in NHS mental health hospitals, schools, community organisations and private practice. Support and interventions are adjusted according to issues, symptoms and emotional needs. I work in English and Japanese.
