I offer clinical supervision in Finchley, North London, for trainee, newly qualified and experienced counsellors and psychotherapists seeking a thoughtful, supportive and reflective space to develop their clinical work.

I am Kate Williams, founder of Finchley Therapy Practice, a psychodynamic therapist and qualified clinical supervisor with over 10 years of clinical experience. My approach to supervision is psychodynamic and relational, with attention to unconscious processes, attachment patterns, transference and countertransference, boundaries, risk, ethical practice and the dynamics that develop within the therapeutic relationship.

Supervision offers an important space to step back from the immediacy of client work and think more deeply about what may be happening within the therapy. I aim to provide a collaborative, containing and non-judgemental environment where uncertainty, complexity and challenging clinical material can be explored openly, while supporting the development of confidence, professional identity and therapeutic understanding.

I have extensive experience working with adults and couples presenting with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss, life transitions and longstanding emotional and relational patterns. My background also includes work within the NHS and the Couples and Family Therapy team at Highgate Counselling Centre, giving me particular experience in thinking about couple dynamics, communication, conflict, intimacy and recurring relationship patterns.

Alongside private practice, I supervise trainees and practising counsellors within established North London services. This experience allows me to support therapists at different stages of their professional development, from those beginning clinical practice to experienced practitioners wanting a space for deeper reflection.
