There are times when life can feel heavy, unclear or emotionally tangled. You may be carrying an underlying sense of emptiness, unhappiness, anxiety or conflict, while finding it difficult to fully understand why. In these moments, therapy can offer a confidential and thoughtful space to begin making sense of what feels confusing, painful or stuck.

Counselling and psychotherapy provide the opportunity to explore thoughts, feelings, relationships and patterns in greater depth. By talking openly within a safe therapeutic relationship, it becomes possible to understand how past and present experiences may be shaping your current difficulties, ease emotional distress, and move towards meaningful change.

I am Kate Williams, founder of Finchley Therapy Practice, an experienced psychodynamic therapist with over 10 years of clinical experience working with adults and couples. I offer therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, life transitions, loss, emotional overwhelm and long-standing patterns that may be affecting the quality of your life.

Alongside private practice, I have worked within the NHS and as part of the Couples and Family Therapy team at Highgate Counselling Centre. I am also a qualified clinical supervisor, supporting the work of trainees and practising counsellors within established North London services. My experience across private, NHS and organisational settings allows me to bring both depth and clinical understanding to my work.

My approach is psychodynamic and relational, which means I pay careful attention not only to immediate symptoms, but also to the deeper emotional patterns, past experiences and relationship dynamics that may sit beneath them. I also work with couples seeking support around communication, conflict, trust, intimacy and recurring relational difficulties.

As founder of Finchley Therapy Practice, I have built a counselling and psychotherapy service in Finchley Central, North London, committed to offering high-quality, ethical and thoughtful therapeutic care. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with its professional ethical framework.
